Looking forward to 2016 with Bayou State

We want to thank everyone for helping make 2015 an amazing year for us here at Bayou State. We also want to inform you of a few things you can look forward to from us in 2016.

First, we have become Premier Sponsors with the Louisiana Dental Association (LDA). We really wanted to help support your local dental association, which we feel is very important to our industry. As Premier Sponsors, we will have more of a presence at the LDA meetings. And, as a result, we will have firsthand information about these meeting if should you have any questions about the meetings.

We will also be launching a new website designed to help get information to keep you informed, and to make it easier for you to obtain the things you may need from us like prescription pads and lab bags. We are also exploring the possibility of having have CE videos or links to CE available on our site as well. Of course, we will continue to offer quality CE courses at our lab. Because, we believe growing through education is very important, especially in this rapidly changing industry.

We will also be adding some new products and services here at Bayou State, we will keep all of you informed on when these new products and services become available.

Lastly, we will continue to strive to improve ourselves as technicians, and as a lab, so that we can continue to help you provide the highest quality dental restorations to your patients. We can’t stress enough how thankful we are that you continue to give us the opportunity to earn your business.
Sincerely,

Darius Hall, CDT

2015 Review

Here at Bayou State, we support not only advancing our own education but our clients' as well. This year we were able to host 3 CE events and to sponsor another event held by the LDA. Early in the year, here in our laboratory, we hosted the VITA shade mastering course, which covered proper shade taking techniques in the office. Mid-year we hosted a course at Juban's Restaurant on how to boost patient referral system. In October, we hosted with our good friends at 3M an in-house course, Prepare to Impress, covering proper prep and impression techniques. This month we also helped sponsor the LDA Last Chance Seminarand we will be co-sponsors of Pattersons Cerec event in New Orleans.

Education is a big part of what we care about here, but we also enjoy a little fun as well. That's why we were sponsors of the LDA fishing rodeo in Grand Isle, LA. Also, with the support of Nobel Biocare, we were able to offer a free golf event to our clients. Speaking of fun, we also gave away an all inclusive travel package to the Alabama vs LSU game in Birmingham!

1st place winner Dr. Hutto

This year wasn't just a big year for our courses; we also made a lot of changes in the lab. We added new CAD/CAM systemslike Projet 3d printers and Geomagic print, 5axis dental mills, MCXL mills just to name a fewto help produce the highest quality restorations possible. Plus, we are now a Cerec support lab, having completed extensive Sirona and Cerec training so that we can assist you.

2015 has been such a wonderful year, and again, we owe it all to our amazing clients. We have some big things coming up in 2016, so keep checking back with us here or on our Facebook page for more info. Thanks again and Happy Holidays from all of us here at Bayou State Crown and Bridge Lab.

We've been in business 29 years!!!!

A lot has changed over these 29 years like the location and the process in which our products have been made. But for 29 years 1 constant has remained the same, our president and founder Darius Hall. Darius’s work ethic, eye for detail and love for the dental industry has been the catalyst for the past 29 years.

Darius started in the dental technology field in 1973 by attending the dental technology program in Maryland. After school he moved to Biloxi to work for a Prosthodontist. In 1975 Darius came to Louisiana and worked for a lab called Codesco. In 1977 he was asked to start a crown and bridge department in another lab where he did and worked for 9 years. Then in June of 1986 he left that lab, and in August of 1986 he started Bayou State.

Bayou State started out in a 500sq ft warehouse off of Daryl Dr. in Baton Rouge. It didn’t last long there. In 1989 Darius’s lab grew enough to move into a 1500sq ft building off of Wooddale blvd in Baton Rouge. Bayou State strived at that location for 15 years but eventually out grew it as well. In March of 2004 Bayou State moved in to its current location in a custom built 5000sq plus facility on Havenpark ct in Baton Rouge. It has been at this location the lab has truly grown both internally and externally. The lab is almost fully digital utilizing wet and dry mills, 3d printers and some of the best CAD software on the market. Bayou State is also the only CDL AND DAMAS Certified lab in the state.

Though our processes and locations have changed over the last 29 years our attention to detail and desire to produce the best quality work has not. All of that can be contributed to our amazing President and Founder Darius Hall, CDT.

THANK YOU DARIUS!!!

Don't get left in the digital dust!

You as dentists should start looking to towards the future. There will be a point that you the clinicians will have to jump aboard the digital train or you may be left in the digital dust. We know here at Bayou State, we had to jump aboard that digital train and its made our lab more productive and consistent. Chairside digital impression systems are the next step for clinicians in dentistry. By partnering with a digitally enabled laboratory you can maximize your workflow and cut back time and cost of treatment. Here at Bayou State we are a Trios Ready Certified lab and are able to accept all intraoral stl scan files from most all systems. We will continue to put digital systems in place to better help you take that next step in maximizing your practice. If you have any questions about any digital impression systems feel free to give our General Manager Tristan a call.

Why Bayou State Became DAMAS certified.

The requirements set forth in DAMAS are based upon the sound quality system management principles specified in ISO, but are geared specifically for the dental laboratory setting. DAMAS stands for Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit System. The DAMAS specifications provide a clear-cut process for improving documentation in every facet of laboratory operations including, dental prescriptions/work authorizations; patient contact materials; subcontractor/supplier agreements; materials and equipment purchases; employee training; maintenance and calibration of equipment; labeling; customer complaints; and material traceability. All of this has been proven to result in better patient safety and better work produced. That's all we can strive to achieve in this industry, patient safety and great work! Here at Bayou State we will always take steps to better our laboratory and in doing so better the practices of our dentist which in turn will better the lives of patients.

Inlab Summit SW15

Tristan was in Dallas over the weekend attending Sironas Inlab Summit SW15. He was able to get a first hand look at Sironas new software coming out this summer. Sirona inlab is a great system with some great features. Currently here at Bayou State we are using other CAD/CAM systems like Sum3d, geomagic and 3shape. The information Tristan gathered at the summit shows some incredible capabilities that Bayou State may soon take advantage of by partnering with Sirona. Stay tuned to our blog we'll be updating when we make our partnership with Sirona offical. *** Special thanks to David for the invite and the VIP treatment he showed Tristan in Dallas.

Referral Seminar Notes

As you may know, referrals and word-of-mouth- marketing is the most profitable and satisfying way to grow a dental practice. The sad fact is most dental offices leave getting referrals to chance and by accident as opposed to getting referrals by design a proven system. We thought there was some good information about some things you can implement into your practice, such as: 1. Any new patient the dentist should call them before they come into your office to thank them for the opportunity to serve them. 2. Implement some sort of a referral system of your choice, educate and inform the entire staff about the program. 3. Remind and reinforce the staff about keeping the program in place and work it consistently. Morning huddle before new client arrivals. 4. TESTIMONIALS, TESTIMONIALS. Testimonials should include: • The patients FULL name • Information about the patient’s personal life. (job, city they live in) • How being a patient of yours has made them feel, and changed there life.
